Divided Government -- Is It Working For You ?

In the past forty plus years, under the leadership of Republican presidents the United States has run up a tremendous debt in the process of bailing out financial institutions and a few cherished private corporations that really have been an under girth to our economy. These bail-outs mentioned includes the enormous amount the Bush Administration engineered known as TARP. In all of these cases, the bail-out proposals did not meet the approval of the majority of American people.

1970 - Penn Central Railroad - $3.2 billion (Richard M. Nixon)
1971 - Lockheed - $1.4 billion (Richard M. Nixon)
1974 - Franklin National Bank - $7.8 billion (Richard M. Nixon)
1975 - New York City - $9.4 billion (Gerald Ford)
1980 - Chrysler - $4.0 billion (James E. Carter)
1984 - Continental Illinois National Bank - $9.5 (Ronald Reagan)
1989 - Savings and Loans - $293.3 billion (George H. Bush)
2001 - Airline Industry - $18.6 billion (William J. Clinton)
2008 - Bear Stearns - $30 billion (George W. Bush)
2008 - Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - $400 billion (George W. Bush)
2008 - American International Group (AIG) - $180 billion (George W. Bush)
2008 - The Auto Industry - $25 billion (George W. Bush)
2008 - TARP - $700 billion (Republican Administration engineered - George W. Bush)
2008 - Citigroup - $280 billion (Republicans Administration - George W. Bush)
2009 - Bank of America - $142.2 billion (President Obama, inherited from George W. Bush)

The exception today, on bail-outs is that the American Jobs Act which is $447 billion (designed to make an investment in Americans) is popularly approved by the American people. Republicans refuse to sign off on any funding of this bridge for employment, health, safety and infrastructure for the American people. No Republicans have signed on any portion of the American Jobs Act.

Republicans then try to band President Obama with designing TARP, shows how dishonest and self promoting and unresponsive Republicans are towards the people they were elected to represent. They then go on and try to blame President Obama for their TARP design which has added to the debt of our economy. The good news is that President Obama's Administration has done a whole lot to reversed the tide of job lose.

Divided government is not working for me. The truth is, Americans need to make sure that Republicans are replaced in the House and Senate as soon as possible because they are not representing the people that elected them. They have made it their business to be concerned only for the wealthiest of Americans, about one percent, while the 99% address serious policy issues.

If we don't restructure both the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, and vote in more Democrats to govern, it will be to the peril of United States of America, and that is the whole truth, we all know it in our hearts and souls.

Can Cain throw Everyone under the Bus and Get Away with It

I'd say that Herman Cain threw everyone under the bus when he said racism is no longer an obstacle in America to hinder black people from moving upward in society. He has been quoted as saying he "believe there is no racism in this country today that holds anybody back in a big way," and on a Fox News talk show he said he "left the Democrat plantation a long time ago", and "African Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded, not even considering a conservative point of view". As he had made these controversial statements, his climb on the ladder for the race to the White House has taken him to first place among the Tea Party Republican presidential hopefuls. His attitude toward those with Occupy Wall Street demonstrators shows his lack of understanding of the economic reality in America with job lost and protectionist taxation policies for the mega rich and wealthiest Americans.

However, the same controversial statements he made to impress the Tea Party Republicans is guaranteed to sunk him with African Americans' and general public opinion of him. As he becomes the target to be taken down by fellow candidates whose aim is to capture the Republican nomination and do battle with President Obama, he will no doubt lose any luster he now holds because his 999 tax plan has already been dubbed as unworkable and would eliminate Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid in totality. Hi 999 tax plan would also double the tax burden on poor and middle class Americans who are already hurting because of low wage growth for more than 20 years and lack of jobs due to overseas outsourcing. His statement that there is nothing holding blacks back from getting jobs in an open market ignore the fact that African Americans are hurting the worst in this job market with unemployment at 16 percent; which means that Herman Cain either has not heard the statistics or is ignoring the statistics and facts because they contradict his statement that there is nothing significant in this country today that holds anybody back in a big way. The facts are the facts and paint a very harsh reality for African Americans.

Herman Cain obviously learned some things from Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin. Making wild statements will ensure you get the highest level of media coverage, and may sit well with Tea Party Republicans, but not with the general public, and once he begins to falter it will be to obscurity. It then seems doubtful that his real goal is to become the President of the United States or even a cabinet member in a future administration because his slide downward would not benefit any new administration.

More than likely, Herman Cain's end game must be to become a television personality, probably with Fox News.

Democrats -- Can We All Get Along

In August, I posed the question about whether Congressional Democrats were on target voicing the base's expectation in confronting Republicans on issues relating to jobs, health care, deficit spending, social security, attacks on unions and state and Federal workers by Republicans who hold elected positions and those seeking elected positions.

Obviously not on target.  It's very disheartening for fellow Democrats to witness those in the Democratic Party and in the House of Representatives finding reason to feud with our Democratic president, while in congress they stood silent during a Republican presidency and voted along with him, more times them not against the base's principles.  And, it is amazingly ridiculous to see any Democrat taking aim at President Obama in public over a "let's get fired up speech".  Why take any part of President Obama's speech and think it personal?  If you do take it personally, why are you taking it public, when you know it breaks down the party.

Instead of feuding with the President, why are you, Democrats not speaking up for gay soldiers on the battlefield fighting for you and all Americans, speak up when you hear them being disparaged by ignorant Republicans.

Democrats need to stand firmly with the President because the people who elected them expect it and want to win the 2012 election.  Take a page from Republicans, they stick to their talking points, every one of them.  Democrats need to try to get along, even if you may think it's personal, let it slide and remember your job is to fight for the American people.

We want to see Democrats put on a full court press and not let any space come between Congressional Democrats and the President.  Step up and speak up for the President; stop being so milli-mouth on what matters to your contingents.

President Obama needs surrogates and that means all Congressional Democrats.

Get on board and get along.
